2951 Royal Canadian Army
Cadet Corps
The Corps was formed in 1977 and was affiliated to the Cameron highlanders of Ottawa (militia unit). The corps was composed of three platoons; two that paraded at the Greely legion and a third satellite platoon. In 1982 the Corp's satellite platoon, which drew its cadets from the Manotick and Nepean Area, formed its own Corps that is now known as 2958.
In 1987, the Corps started looking for a new affiliated unit due to a lack of support from the Cameron Highlanders. The search for an affiliated unit went on for two years. Canadian Forces Station Leitrim became the official affiliated unit in 1989 and have been supporting 2951 ever since.
Three legions now sponser the corps; Branch 627 located in Greeley (where the corps parades), Branch 372 located in Russell and Branch 212 located Kemptville.
2951 Leitrim Cadet Corps is considered a rural corps that draws its cadets from many areas: the cities of Gloucester and Ottawa and the communities of Kemptville, Russell, Metcalfe, Hammond, Carlsbad, Embrun, Morewood, South Mountain, Osgoode, St. Albert, Casselman, Oxford Mills, Oxford Station, Chesterville, Limoges, Vars and Winchester,
